Tramping in the Sounds
Yesterday, Tracy, Nietzsche (our German Shorthaired Pointer) and I were tramping through the bush in the stunning Marlborough Sounds. We drove less than two hours from our house and walked one of the trails we used to do each week when we lived in the Sounds.
Spiritual Insights While in Nature
Nietzsche was so excited - we were sure he remembered the place. As we walked and I communed with nature, I began to contemplate further what non-violence looks like in reference to our spiritual movement. While veganism, anti-capital punishment and pacifism are central to The Ministry, what about issues like abortion? So many religious traditions seem to be “against” abortion, while they show little interest in the children that come from their opposition. Where do we stand on this topic?
Right to Body Autonomy
Part of violence often involves a loss of body autonomy and, as such, the right to body autonomy is central to our beliefs. So, for our spiritual work, the right of a pregnant woman to determine what to do with her own body is determinative.
May all beings know peace!
